Instagram to Google

The pipeline that turns Instagram content into a Google post.

Updated:

The Instagram integration lets you turn content you already post on Instagram into a Google Business Profile post effortlessly β€” the lowest-effort way to keep the profile fresh. It's managed from the Instagram screen.

Connecting

The connection is per business and bound to the Instagram handle on the profile:

  1. First declare your Instagram account on Profile β†’ Social.
  2. On the Instagram screen, use Connect to complete the Meta OAuth flow.

Security: if the connected account does not match the Instagram handle on the profile, content is hidden (USERNAME_MISMATCH). If Meta deauthorizes, you'll be asked to reconnect.

The screen lists Posts/Reels/Carousels (stories are intentionally excluded).

Sharing to Google

When you select content and click "Share to Google", this real pipeline runs:

  1. A temporary copy of the media is made (Instagram CDN URLs expire; Google downloads from our URL at publish time).
  2. A real post (sourceType: INSTAGRAM) is created β€” all of Posts' plan/permission/rate/scheduling rules apply.
  3. It publishes immediately or is scheduled in business-local time (if scheduled, it shows as a normal scheduled post on the Posts screen).

In the share window: edit the text (pre-filled from the IG caption), phone-number stripping (Google rejects posts with phone numbers), a CTA button, video 30s/720p validation β€” for long video, trim (first 30s or pick a range) or use the cover image, choose which carousel frame goes out, and AI generate/rewrite for the text.

Why it affects ranking

By reusing existing content you keep the profile regular and fresh β€” the activity/regularity signal the SEO Audit rewards, at almost zero extra effort.
