Citations & NAP

Listings across the web, NAP consistency rate, and canonical NAP.

Updated:

Citations are your business's listings across the web (directories, social media, map/review sites). Tracking these and especially NAP consistency (Name-Address-Phone) is what the Citations screen does. The screen is read-only: the scan runs automatically once a week — you don't trigger it manually (it costs money to run, and needless repeats are prevented).

What you see

A single flat list — for each listing:

  • Platform and the real listing URL (never a fabricated/search link).
  • Verdict: CONFIRMED / LIKELY / UNCERTAIN (with a confidence score).
  • NAP status: consistent / inconsistent / unknown.
  • Observed values: the name/address/phone seen on that directory — showing exactly what doesn't match, e.g. "Address: different on this directory".

The metrics on top: listings found, confirmed, NAP consistency rate (%), and the count of inconsistent listings.

Canonical NAP

The screen presents your business's canonical NAP as one copyable block. When fixing directories, you paste exactly that text. The social links on your own Google profile (Facebook, Instagram…) also count as trusted listings for free — filling Profile → Social enriches the table.

Permission: competitors.view (+ the citation_scanner feature flag). The first scan is triggered automatically when you connect the business.

Why it affects ranking

Inconsistent NAP weakens Google's confidence in your business identity and lowers ranking. The SEO Audit scores directory count (target 20) and NAP inconsistency in the visibility category. For the concept in depth: NAP consistency.
