How to Update My Billing Information
A billing change works forward; it does not alter an invoice already issued. A short help article.

This is a short help article. It covers where billing details are updated and the three things people ask most.
Where to update it Billing details are changed in the billing section of your account settings. The fields you can usually change are:
Billing name. A personal name or a company name.
Tax details. Tax identification number and tax office; sole traders may use a personal identification number.
Billing address. This can differ from your business address.
Billing email. Where the invoice gets sent. It matters that this is an address someone actually monitors.
One caution: the billing address and the business address on your profile are separate things. Changing the billing address does not change the address on your Google profile; that is a separate action and requires consistency: NAP consistency.
When a change takes effect This is the most commonly misunderstood point.
It works forward. An update affects invoices issued from that point on.
An issued invoice does not change. Past invoices are legal records and are not edited afterwards. That is an accounting rule rather than a system limitation.
If you are close to renewal. With very little time left before the renewal date, a change may only appear from the following period. For a significant update like a change of trading name, making it a few days before renewal is the safe approach.
If an issued invoice contains an error, the route is not an update but a support request, submitted along with the correct details.
Payment method is a separate matter Billing details and payment method are not the same thing, and they get conflated.
Billing details determine who the invoice is issued to.
Payment method determines which card the payment is taken from.
The two are independent: changing the card does not change the billing name, and changing the name does not change the card. If a renewal is failing, the place to look is the payment method side.
Frequently asked questions Can I change a past invoice? No. An issued invoice is a legal record. If it contains an error, it gets resolved through a support request with the correct details.
Can my billing address differ from my business address? Yes. But the business address on your profile is the one customers see and it has to be genuine; the billing address does not affect it.
I moved from sole trader to a limited company. What should I do? Update the billing name and tax details. Doing this a few days before the renewal date ensures the change lands in the right period.
I changed my card. Does my billing information change too? No. Payment method and billing details are independent fields.
